Headless WordPress + Next.js platform on AWS handling a 50,000+ product catalogue, with a custom multi-quote engine and client portal.

A US industrial manufacturer with 50,000+ products needed a platform built for that scale — headless WordPress and Next.js on AWS, with a self-service multi-quote engine at the center.
Thousands of SKUs with complex specifications, attributes, and category hierarchies required a purpose-built product management solution.
Customer-specific pricing, volume discounts, and contract pricing couldn't be handled by standard e-commerce platforms.
Sales reps were manually processing orders by phone and fax — a process too slow and error-prone for a growing industrial distributor.
OMEX Industries supplies power transformers and distribution equipment to data centres, utilities, EV charging networks and industrial operations across the United States. Their catalogue runs to over 50,000 products — a scale and complexity that ruled out any off-the-shelf e-commerce or CMS solution from the start.
Business customers had no self-service visibility into their orders, invoices, or account credit status.
The existing ERP system needed to sync in real time with the new platform to avoid stock discrepancies and shipping delays.
Sales representatives needed mobile access to the full catalogue and account data while visiting client sites.
We architected and built a headless WordPress backend with a Next.js frontend, giving the client a fast, scalable platform that could handle their full product range without performance compromises. At the heart of the system is a custom multi-quote engine — clients can build, manage and submit multiple quotes simultaneously, with automated PDF generation and email delivery built directly into the workflow. A dedicated client portal handles account management, quote history and document access, all secured with role-based authentication.\n\nThe entire platform runs on AWS, with infrastructure designed for the reliability standards that industrial and utility clients expect. Security was built in at every layer, not bolted on at the end.
OMEX now has a platform built specifically for the scale of their catalogue and the needs of their industrial customers — fast product discovery across 50,000+ SKUs, a self-service multi-quote workflow that used to require manual back-and-forth, and infrastructure that holds up under the reliability bar utilities and data centres expect.

A custom-built stack capable of handling large product catalogues, complex pricing rules, and high-volume B2B ordering workflows.
We modernised fragmented workflows and manual tasks into an intelligent system that improves efficiency and client experience.

The project began with extensive stakeholder interviews to understand the complex purchasing hierarchies and product data requirements of an industrial distribution environment.
